With the prototype I got the motor to spin in both directions and also to respond to external pwm/dir commands. The software was in C for the dsPIC and was based closely on the similar application note from Microchip. I think you are better off by starting from the Microchip example code rather than looking at my buggy code. I never did finish this project...
